When MOTÖRHEAD held the ultimate contest in 1995
Like us, you probably have a lot of questions about this. Motorhead “competition” since 1995 created to help promote the band’s twelfth album, Sacrifice. The most important thing is that the supply throughout the year Lemmyfavorite whiskey based on Lemmythe annual consumption of 1995? If so, that’s a hell of a way to go. Although it sounds like a dream, the first prize in the contest was a custom car dubbed “Das Motörmöbile”. The Das Motörmöbile was a black Vauxhall Corsaa sort of mini car produced in Germany since the early 80s. Except this one came with a professional airbrushed design of the Warpig / Snaggletooth from the cover of Sacrifice on his little hood.
Das Motormobile! But wait, there is Motormore!
The second and third prizes were free Motorhead tattoos. Here’s a look at the rest of the fabulous prizes you could have won in 1995:
- 4e Price: One year supply (52 weeks) of Lemmyfavorite whiskey
- 5e Price: A 1/2 year supply (26 weeks) of Lemmyfavorite whiskey
- 6e and 7e Price: A one month supply (4 weeks) of Lemmyfavorite whiskey
- 8e Prize (to 100 winners!): A “usable” black Motorhead condom in a Motorhead package
All you needed to know to be considered for one of the awards was to correctly identify Lemmy(Jack Daniels’) favorite whiskey, and mail your response to an address in Hannover, Germany (with your phone number). Unfortunately, we were unable to confirm who, if anyone, won any of these incredible prizes 27 years ago. Let’s just hope whoever scored the car didn’t have a friend who scored a large amount of whiskey thanks to Lemmy and Co. To help wash it all away, let’s play with Motorhead as they celebrate Lemmy50 years at Whiskey a Go Go in 1995.
